Homework

Fresh out of the shower at 4:30 PM, he sits on his black office chair. He opens up his laptop. The keyboard lights turn purple with the first keystrokes. There are multiple Firefox tabs open. He opens up Spotify to play the album Homework, by Daft Punk. 

He grabs the brown hardbound notebook on his desk, it has a sticker of the hands of God and Adam from Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam, except there is a joint that’s being passed between the two hands. The notebook is filled with blank ink scribbles. He draws a large horizontal line under the last scribble and puts the tip of his black gel pen to the paper.

He brings the pen to his mouth and nibbles at the end, then turns his head quickly, scanning the room. He finds his vape tucked behind the Marshall speaker. He takes a long drag and blows out. The vapour fills the room. He taps the pen on the notebook to the beat of Da Funk that’s playing, then looks around the room. He sees the black flask on the desk and picks it up to take a gulp of water. He finishes the bottle, then gets off the chair, folding the notebook with the pen between the pages and setting the book on the desk. He heads to the kitchen and refills the bottle with water.

He returns to his chair and brings his laptop closer to type. He opens up a new tab with Google Keep, and starts to type.
